Doghouse stolen from Oldham pet shop in broad daylight

A pet shop in Chadderton was targeted by thieves described as a ‘flip flop carrying a scumbag and mate’.

At around 4pm last Thursday August 26, two men were captured by CCTV dragging a kennel outside the Rawsome Pets store in Neville Street, Chadderton before putting it in a white van and fleeing the scene.

The next day, after notifying the police, the store posted a public appeal on Facebook in hopes of locating the thieves.

The post, which includes screenshots of CCTV footage from the theft, read: “We’d appreciate a quick share to see if Facebook can help find this scumbag-wearing flip flop and his companion who stole our kennel .”

The screenshots not only reveal the faces of the thieves, but also the license plate of the van. The getaway vehicle is believed to have no insurance or MOT. The van’s number plate was scrambled by The Oldham Times as CCTV footage was not released by police.

The store then posted the full CCTV footage of the theft in the comments under the Facebook post.

The post has so far been shared over 200 times and garnered over 30 comments from shocked audience members. Despite the response, the thieves have yet to be arrested.

One person wrote: “Disgusting. I’m so sorry this happened to you. You work hard with the company, and that’s the last thing that should happen.

Another added: ‘I can’t believe their nerve. Hopefully they will be unmasked and brought to justice.

A third simply said, “Put them in the doghouse.”

The Oldham Times has contacted Greater Manchester Police for an update.
